Several factors determine how much you can earn:
Product value and commission rate. A 10% commission on a $500 per month software subscription is $50 per month per customer. On a $5,000 one off deal, it is $500 once. Recurring commissions compound over time, which is why SaaS and subscription products tend to generate the highest long term income.
Sales volume. The more conversations you have, the more deals you close. It is a numbers game at its core. Agents who prospect consistently outperform those who wait for leads to come to them.
Customer retention. If you earn recurring commissions, keeping your customers happy directly impacts your income. A customer who stays for three years is worth far more than one who cancels after two months.
Experience and skills. As you get better at selling, your close rate improves. What used to take ten conversations to close one deal might become five conversations for one deal. That doubles your effective hourly rate.
